An 18-member Odisha squad bagged a total of 10 medals in the 25th National Junior and Cadet Karate Championship, which was held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on May 18 and 19. According to media report, medals included two gold, one silver and seven bronze.
The two gold medals were won by Aniruddha Pratap Singh in cadet boys 57kg fight and the trio of Basudeb Pradhan, Suraj Hantala and Smruti Ranjan Pal in cadet boys team kata.
Payal Baral claimed the silver in girls` 54kg fight and a bronz in kata. Sujata Sahoo secured two bronze medals in junior girls` fight and kata. Other four bronze medals were grabbed by Nihar Ranjan Swain in boys` 76kg kata, Subham Babuta in 76kg fight, Dillip Behera in 55kg and Avishek in boys` kata.
